"I look for peace in the outdoors, inspiration in stories, and philosophy in other people. I believe in the transformative power of human and more-than-human relationships to return us to ourselves and widen our horizons of meaning."
A Bit More About Me
I am a therapist-in-training in my second year of the Masters of Psychotherapy program at the University of Guelph. As an emerging therapist, I seek to provide a non-judgemental, curious space for clients to explore themselves, one another, and their stories. My interest in stories began early on, with my still enduring passions for reading, writing, and performing. Now, I seek to honour stories in therapy, by recognizing the agency and insight that all people have into themselves and their relationships, while also striving to illuminate together those parts that have been left unturned and uncared for. My academic degrees—an MA in Critical Disability Studies, and a BA in Philosophy—offer me the tools to ask thoughtful questions that consider a client’s unique social, personal, and historical circumstances. Above all, I approach this work with an attitude of not-knowing; however, I tend to seek answers in the sounds that can be heard in stillness, and the connections that can be made between one another. I am trained in Narrative and Solution Focussed Therapies, which provide a foundation for a practice that centres clients and their strengths. I am interested in exploring emotion-focussed, somatic, and psychodynamic modalities, to further my understanding of the varied components of human experience. Ultimately, I practice with an integrative approach that prioritizes warmth, relationality, and asking good questions. In my simplest moments, I am someone who needs to get outside.
